In our society, there is a misconception that science is restricted to those who have a formal understanding of cellular and molecular processes and have conducted extensive research in their respective field. In reality, the only prerequisites for pursuing science are curiosity and a desire to learn more about the natural world. Children posses these qualities, yet are often underrepresented in the sciences. We at Scientifica believe that it is important for youth to gain early exposure to the sciences so they can cultivate a more informed view of the world.
Scientifica Magazine has helped develop programs for students who are underrepresented in the sciences through BreakThrough Miami, and we have conducted science days in the past where students were able to engage in food chemistry experiments and bacteria gram staining so they can heighten their exposure to ways science manifests in our day to day lives.
We are currently coordinating BreakThrough Miami events, and we will email you the dates and events as the dates are confirmed.
